The frame assembles in minutes with no tools- just snap buttons. Adjust the leg height to level out your trunk and stash your gear underneath. Telescope the length of the frame to fit you and your vehicle. Attach the supportive aluminum-slat topper. Put on your mattress and you're done!
Perfected through years of engineering and testing, the Hideaway was developed by people who actually sleep in their cars. Its future-proof: the included legs fit any vehicle you'd want to sleep in, our Size Conversion Kits make it easy to swap from one size to another, and our 7-year warranty + lifetime support means you don't have to worry.
The frame and slats are built from 6063 aerospace grade anodized aluminum chosen for strength and usability. This gives you a sturdy sleeping surface (not suspended by fabric like a cot), without straining your back trying to install it. Plus it will never rust. The entire thing weighs 14-25 lbs depending on the size. That's about 6 bottles of wine!
The adjustable legs can easily level out the most angled seat backs and uneven trunks while letting you stash your gear inside your car and under the platform. After years of studying 1,000's of vehicle trunks, we include an ideal assortment of 12 legs to fit any vehicle you'd want to sleep in.
The Hideaway is the only vehicle sleeping platform that can telescope in length. For a lot of vehicles there's not enough length from the bumper to the folded seat to lay down. The telescoping frame let's you extend out over the footwell while keeping the legs firmly supported on the folded seat backs, giving you a full 6 ft of length while keeping the footwells open for storage. Plus you can keep the platform in your car during the week and go from gear shelf to sleep mode in seconds. Extends from 39 in to 72 in.
Assemble and install in about 5 minutes with no tools. The frame clicks together with snap buttons and the topper attaches with sturdy straps. Adjust the length with a simple knob. Takedown is just as fast and everything fits neatly in the included bag for easy storage. Skip the commitment that comes with a bulky or permanent sleeping platform.

We provide the optimum assortment of legs to fit any vehicle you'd want to sleep in. Included are:
The 8", 6" and 5" legs are all adjustable in length. The 3" legs are not adjustable and provide the lowest height possible.

Uneven Floor- Folded seats are at an angle, typical with small to mid-size SUVs. Install 8" legs at the bumper, 6" in the middle, 5"on the extending end. For more headroom use the 3" legs on the extending end and move the 5" to middle, 6" to bumper.
Step Floor- Folded seats are flat but raised. Install 8"legs at the bumper and middle, 5"on the extending end. For more headroom swap the 5" legs for 3".

You can. A lot of customers collapse it down to its 39" length and keep it in their trunk as a gear shelf. Others remove it between trips. It weighs 14-25lbs depending on width - about the same as a gym dumbbell - so it's easy to carry and store in your trunk or garage when not in use.
Absolutely- the platform adjusts in height from 8.5" to 14.5" of gear clearance providing tons of room for organizing gear bins, coolers, surfboards, etc.
5-10 minutes, no tools required. Assemble the frame, adjust the legs to desired height, telescope to your length, and fasten the topper. Watch our setup video on our product guide page to see it in action.
Yes! The platform is designed for standard camping mattresses or sleeping pads. We recommend a 4" thick foam + air mattress or camping pad. If using a foam mattress we recommend 6" or more. Check out our mattresses here.
Yes, Pacific Adventure Works was honored with the prestigious Outdoor Retailer Innovation Award for the Hideaway sleeping platform. This award recognizes excellence in design, functionality, and impact within the outdoor industry.

Customers praised this sleeping platform for fitting perfectly in various vehicles including 4Runners, Land Rovers, and Honda Odysseys. Shoppers said it's "exactly what I was looking for" and supports two adults (300# total) comfortably. While installation of support beams can be challenging, customers report total satisfaction and would buy again.
Excellent modular design, after a month of dispersed camping, and campground settings, adjustability is wonderful, solid design, and execution!
Thanks for the feedback! We love how perfect your suitcase fits under there- nice work.
Fits perfectly in my recently restored 1997 Land Rover Defender 110. Exactly what I was looking for.
Looks awesome in there Ted! Glad we could help.
I have a lot of cots. This is the only one that fits in my Tacoma perfectly. Love that bins also fit underneath. Probably paid too much with the Canada US exchange but could not find an equivalent product in Canada.
We’ve been incredibly impressed with the Hideaway sleeping platform so far. One of the biggest standouts is how easy it is to set up and remove from the truck when needed. It feels thoughtfully designed for people who actually use their vehicles for adventure and daily life, not just for a showroom build.
The adjustability has also been a huge plus. Being able to customize the platform height to fit different gear underneath makes the setup far more functional for real-world trips. Whether we’re packing recovery gear, storage boxes, or camping equipment, it’s easy to configure the space in a way that works for us.
Overall, the Hideaway feels like gear that was built with longevity in mind. It’s functional, durable, and clearly designed for years of use. Supporting domestic manufacturing and local production is also something that matters to us, and it’s great to see a company prioritizing quality craftsmanship close to home.
I own a van build shop on the west coast. Nowadays most van owners are looking for modularity, to cover sports, kids, family, hobby’s. This bed gives our customers options for a very comfortable, modular bed, that stowes away. Genius when you’re fighting millimeters!
Haven't had a chance to camp out yet with my two singles, but they seem exceptionally well made and sturdy, even if it takes slightly longer than I'd expect to fully unpack and set them up (~5mins each).
For the premium price, I am a little surprised that there in not an included carrying bag like what's common among camp chairs these days. Having something like this would greatly reduce the hassle of keeping all the parts together when packing up. As it is, the six legs will easily slip through either end of the wound up parts, which means I need to invent my own solution for keeping them together.
This set up is as comfortable as sleeping at home. It fits our 2021 Chrysler Pacifica perfectly. Our first time out with it for 7 nights was flawless.
We had several questions prior to purchasing. Questions were answered very promptly, friendly service.
I drive a 2020 Honda Fit. Nearly 130k miles, roadtrips, state parks, national parks, I use this thing. As you can imagine, space is limited, and I had been utilizing a foam pad and trying a ton of ways to sleep. That worked, but then I had no rela storage.. everything was cramped.
When I came across the PAW setup I liked it, but was apprehensive about if it was too wide... then guess what happened? The sidekick! I was stoked. I picked up the kit and a mattress.. I ended up ordering a set of 5" legs. I don't have a lot of vertical room, but I still wanted some space underneath for things.
It's been a few months, but finally cool enough here to enjoy some camping. I packed up for a single night to give the sidekick a shot.. and everything worked great! I mean, you can do a testfit in the garage.. but until you actually use it you never know!
Anyway, when Reed says it will FIT in a FIT.. he's not lying! haha! Thanks Reed and Team!
Finally had the chance to hit the road. I was prepared to sleep in the car but found my car-tent is perfect, dimensionally, to put that Hideaway on the ground.
With the Exped mattress, the Hideaway was an excellent sleeping solution, and a seat for other camping needs. It was all set up in the car, but revising the level was simple.
Prior to my trip, I marked each hole on the opposite side- that eliminated “fishing” for the next hole, up or down. The hideaway will serve my needs well!
So far, I have only taken my Hideaway on one trip, but I have been very happy with it! I can fit it inside my 2018 Subaru Forrester and I love how I can store things underneath it. I plan to use this to extend my camping into the fall and early winter in the wet and cool Pacific Northwest.
Some minor modifications were made to the trailer. Removed the aluminum frame screens that come standard and put up curtains to accommodate the 72” sleeping pad. The space is 70” wide. The hideaway is a great fit. We managed to sleep like champions for three nights in a 13’ trailer with the platform raised to full height. Earplugs and eyemasks help too! Get one and dig the adventure! Happy travels!
I have recently gotten into minivan camping and adding the Hideaway Single and Exped Megamat to my setup has been a godsend. The platform is easy to setup and take down, allows for tons of storage and I sleep like a baby. So happy with my purchase and the terrific customer service from PAW,
Totally happy with the solution and the service. Managed to get the Hideaway to Germany and could use it in time! THX
TL;DR: Works great in my Toyota Previa with the IKEA futon mattress I already owned. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve camped in my van for 6ish years with just an IKEA futon mattress on the floor and while it worked okay, the wheel well would slope one corner and my kid (who just won’t stop growing 😭) would always slide into me and leave me with minimal space. Each year I would convince myself that I would build a frame, and each year I did not—thanks ADHD!. So when this popped up in some advertisements I instantly fell in love.
I’ll admit, I talked myself out of it for a couple weeks due to the cost being a bit high.. but then I took the plunge and I’m so happy I did. I didn’t buy the mattress as I hate inflatable mattresses and my IKEA mattress will still work on it. It was super easy to build and the construction looks well thought out and made. I can even still make a sort of couch when it’s collapsed in.
I got a hideaway double for my 2019 4Runner and have nothing but good things to say about it. I’ve spent the last week camping around Utah and I’ve never had so much space while having a cozy sleeping platform. Also, customer service is on point! I reached out with questions on which leg kit to select and I got a detailed response the next day. Super stoked!
What sets the Hideaway apart from other platform beds on the market is that it does exactly what I was looking for - it extends and collapses ... and does so almost effortlessly. No need to re-construct or de-construct each time it is extended or collapsed, like some other platforms. It's designed to fit and be used in most vehicles on the road today right out of the box. But I have a 35 year old Volkwagen Vanagon. So I knew before I bought the Hideaway that I would need to alter it slightly. But I also knew it was a great foundation for what I wanted to do. I live close enough to P.A.W. that I was able to pick it up in person. I met with Reed, who couldn't have been nicer. We discussed a few ways to fit it into my Vanagon. At home, I made just a few simple alterations. It fits perfectly. And now I have what all other Vanagons lack - a garage in the rear so that I don't have to keep shuffling my stuff when it's time to sleep and again when it's time to get up. It takes me less than a minute to either collapse the Hideaway and my bedding during the day (so I can use the Vanagon's rear bench seat in couch mode), or, fold down the seat and extend out both the Hideaway and my bedding to sleep at night. And the stuff in my garage is accessible whether the bed is up or down. The Hideaway is fairly light weight, but solid, well made and well designed. I sleep comfortably on it with no fear or reservation that it might wiggle or collapse. No chance of that happening. And, if I want/need to remove it from my vehicle, it quickly collapses down and rolls up for easy storage. I love it!
