I have been looking for a sleeping system for my Ineos Grenadier for a while. I am a keen hiker and wanted to be able to drive to the trailhead the night before, set up quickly a comfortable bed, rest and then hike at sunrise without the need to pitching a tent or getting an expensive hotel room.
The Sidekick 24" Sleeping Platform does this and more. I am solo and sleep on my side and so the 24" Sidekick is perfect, it also allows me to just fold down the 60 section of my 60/40 reach bench seat.
The Step Floor leg kit works a treat as my rear bench does not fold down flush with the floor.
I read some other reviews and also added the Exped MegaMat and so glad I did.
It's more comfortable than the bed in my house even with me being a side sleeper.
And when I am not using the sleeping platform, rather than fully remove, I just collapse the length and turn it sideways, and it acts as a great storage platform behind my rear bench doubling my floor space.
Could not be happier and Reed was super nice and responsive to the emails I sent asking him various questions.

Finally got out to put my single platform into use. The design is outstanding; the flexibility to adjust the length and the height for both use in the SUV and in the tent is unmatched. I am impressed with the quality of the build; lightweight but strong poles; quality connections and fittings and easy but sure snap-in pins.
This is a great product, very well made and solid!
I bought this for camping in my 2013 Toyota Tacoma with a shell. This is perfect for my setup: Not only is it a quick and easy bed with storage underneath, but I can also pack it up and store it when I am not using it for camping. Love it.
Accompanying the exped sleeping bag and mattress I bought at REI, this exped pillow tire it all together with comfort and style. I really appreciate the thoughtful deep green color, high quality craftsmanship, materials and size. It's perfect! Very happy, thanks!
I had asked someone from the company on the IG page and they were helpful in trouble shooting something and recommended me the stubby legs for when I need more head space in my honda. I have the legs that extend up and the chubby legs as well and I couldn’t be happier as I have more options now.
I could talk about the sleeping platform for a while, like how easy setup and adjustments are, but what I appreciated above all else was the hand written “thank you” note. I bought the platform in a rush, and admittedly didn’t look into the company all that much. Knowing it’s operated by two people that care enough about their clientele to write something by hand made me feel not only smart about my purchase, but just really dang good. It was EXTREMELY refreshing to feel a drop of humanity in commerce again. On the spec side, I purchased the XL 48” and it took no more than 5 minutes to set up without needing instructions. The sliding rails make it extremely compact when not in use, and the platform topper rolls up very easily. Even being the largest size offered, it can fit in a roof topper amazingly. My skis and climbing gear can fit with it (18cu ft THULE for reference) with at least 5cu ft left. The legs come with extremely grippy feet that prevent slippage even at speeds of 50+ mph around corners and interstate ramps. Finally, the adjustable legs can be fitted rapidly and offer a ton of different heights. Definitely a product worth buying.
Thank you for your kind words Simon- it means a lot to us. Enjoy your climbing and skiing adventures!
I purchased the Sidekick to replace the cot I had been using in my minivan. The adjustable legs make it very stable, and the adjustable length allows me to have easy access when I need to use the second row seating. The Sidekick has greatly improved the quality of my sleep when camping. The customer service is the best I've ever experienced. All of my questions and concerns were answered quickly and with patience. This is the best purchase I've made since starting my adventures with van camping!
I took the hideaway single 30” in my 2012 Rav4 for a 3 night camping trip in Death Valley for my first trip, and it did not disappoint. Even in a small/mid-sized suv, I was able to extend the sleeping platform to its full 72” (with both front seats pushed and leaned forward as far as they will go). It took maybe 30 minutes to assemble at home the first time. I choose to leave it assembled in my trunk, and it fits sideways perfectly, allowing me to have the back seat up and not dissemble the platform every time. I would note in a backseat like mine where there is a 2/3 and 1/3 split, I have to put down the entire backseat to extend the sleeping platform. Perhaps the sidekick 24” would fit on the 2/3 side of the car, but I wanted the extra width for comfort.
Complementary gear: my REI campwell sleeping pad fits on it perfectly (and at 2.5 inches that’s as thin as I would go on a sleeping pad or you risk feeling the cross bars). My kelty car-go-box juuuust fits under the tallest part of the platform at its tallest height. I use generic under-bed clear storage containers under the shorter sections. I was able pack well under and around the platform without obstructing my view out the back, and I was able to climb into bed without unpacking anything. That’s car camping goals.
The only issue I have had so far is the blue plastic pieces coming out from between the length bars. They are very difficult to put back, and they have fallen out of more than one place.
Overall, I am so so happy with this purchase. I cannot wait to go on my next solo adventure. I shopped around on sleeping platforms, and I felt this one was the best value. The piece is solid (I am not a small gal, and it felt very stable throughout the night) and yet still light.
I almost made a mistake and bought a competitors sleep system.
This system is the way it should be. No tools, no construction. Very elegant.
Highly recommend this product!
Thanks for the kind words Ron- enjoy!
Great product. The mat is very comfortable. An option with longer feet would add more versatility, but otherwise it’s perfect.
Needed this for a trip that was a week away. Called, Ordered, Delivered as promised and on time for my trip. This product is sturdy and easy to use. One of my best purchases to date for camping.
Glad we can be of service Tod! Thanks so much for your review.
I own a van build shop on the west coast. Nowadays most van owners are looking for modularity, to cover sports, kids, family, hobby’s. This bed gives our customers options for a very comfortable, modular bed, that stowes away. Genius when you’re fighting millimeters!
First thing I noticed is how well designed and built it is. The tolerances are very tight everything fits very securely together. The materials are all high quality and light. I like the color the paint is very nice maybe powder coated. The cot is very light and there is a lot of adjustability in height for all six legs and of course length is very easy to change. I use mine across back bench of a chevy express passenger van
I purchased the PAW Hideaway double bed for its compact and versatility. I wanted something that wasn’t permanent and could easily be removed and stored. I also wanted something that wasn’t permanent adjustable and could fit multiple vehicles. This fit all my needs. It’s height and length adjustable, packs in a carry bag, and the size is great for a vehicle. The width is 40” wide while others I’ve researched are around 50”. I ordered additional legs for the wheel well and was missing one set. They immediately CALLED me to tell me it was being shipped. They also sent me an email about my order. Their customer service has been the best I’ve experienced in a long time.
Thanks for an awesome product and experience with your company.
Hi Anne-Marie- thanks for making our day! We just treat people the way we want to be treated. Thanks for your support.
Had been looking at more complicated systems, but really glad I found the Hideaway. Fits perfectly in our 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. Easy to setup and take down.
I never regret buying the mega pump. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I bought a single hideaway over a year ago to use in my minivan as it was the smallest size bed at the time. Loved the flexibility to adjust the legs due to an uneven floor or even an uneven campsite. When I saw the smaller size bed which would fit better and provide move space, I thought about purchasing it. Then I saw the conversion kit and it was the perfect solution. Fits well in the van and I can even keep a seat up. As always customer support is great!!
I want to start out by saying that I do love this thing, particularly because I enjoy modular designs that I can move from one vehicle to the next. It is rugged, lightweight, and it will be comfortable. That said, I did specifically buy this for my Mazda. Some issues arose. I needed to use a hammer to get the legs on, as they did not click into place, even when I used my body weight due to an inner rim that was the same circumference as the leg. I will not be able to take it apart again. When I put it in my car, I was able to get it level, but no matter which part of the car I put it in I was not able to put my seats back up as advertised when I pushed the legs back in. Again, this will do what it is intended to do, but I do wish that some of the more basic promises of the build were accessible both for my car and in general.
High-end product, clean aesthetic, fits the subby perfectly. Amazing stuff
Love the Exped, expecially with the battery pump. It makes for a great night sleep that is adjustable, warm and just plain comfortable.
I like the platform itself but it would be so much better if when it was not extended, it would fit in the “trunk space” with the rear seat back up.
As it it, unless you completely dismantle the platform, the rear seat has to stay in the down position.

Thanks for your feedback William- in some vehicles there isn't enough length in the trunk with the passenger seats up to fit the 39' collapsed length of the Hideaway. Instead of taking the Hideaway apart you can try removing the topper and turning the frame sideways, then putting the topper back on the frame. This works great in smaller SUVs.
Got this for an upcoming month-long camping trip. The Hideaway went together easily, fit perfectly in my van, and appears to be perfect for my intended use.
Haven't had a chance to camp out yet with my two singles, but they seem exceptionally well made and sturdy, even if it takes slightly longer than I'd expect to fully unpack and set them up (~5mins each).
For the premium price, I am a little surprised that there in not an included carrying bag like what's common among camp chairs these days. Having something like this would greatly reduce the hassle of keeping all the parts together when packing up. As it is, the six legs will easily slip through either end of the wound up parts, which means I need to invent my own solution for keeping them together.
